Assignment #1

Due Date: July 12, 2004

Value: 15 points total

Submission:

  1. Send the instructor an e-mail containing the URL for the first half of the assignment. greg@tapr.org.
  2. Post an e-mail to the class list containing the written part of the assignment (part 2). Use the following subject line: Your Name - Assignment 1

Part 1 (10 pts)

    Using HTML, create a linked web site containing at least 3 or more web page covering a topic of your choice.

    The HTML must contain at least the following items:

      1. The project will be located inside a sub-directory of your public_html directory and will be called by using the server/your_account_name/assign1.
      2. The main page will be called "index.html"
      3. Multiple Paragraphs.
      4. A hyperlink to another websites.
      5. Bold and Italic fonts.
      6. Use appropriate headings and idention
      7. Insert a .gif or .jpg image. Graphics of appropriate size, format, and content to reinforce the instructional content of the site.
      8. Use two Horizontal Line's of at least two different sizes
      9. Ordered and unordered lists.
      10. Relative and Absolute Links
      11. It must display acceptably on Netscape 4.x and Internet Explorer 5.0 and later.

    Expected Code: Student must use one or more of the above items in the submitted code.

Part 2 (5 pts)

  • Locate and read, from any professional conference/journal/article, two articles relevant to the process of web page layout and style. Write a two paragraph review for each article. The 1st paragraph should describe the contents of the article. The 2nd paragraph should be your reaction to the article. Do not forget to include the reference cite. Use APA format.

  • Post an e-mail to the class list containing the written part of the assignment (part 2). Use the following subject line: Your Name - Assignment 1

  • Reply to at least two postings in a meaningful manner. Be sure to include your name in the subject line like: Re: There Name - Assignment #1 - Your Name
