Format Body Pages

To create a multi-page manual, you first format your pages.
To format pages you will


Format Page Margins

  1. Open a new document in Microsoft Word.
  2. On the Word toolbar, select File >Page Setup.
  3. On the Page Setup menu, select the Margins tab.
  4. In Orientation, select either Portrait or Landscape.
  5. In Margins, use the up and down arrows on the right of each
    margin box to set the margin width.
  6. In Pages, use the drop down menu to select Normal.
  7. In Preview, use the drop down menu to select
    Apply to Whole Document
    .
  8. Click OK.

Format Booklet Layout (optional)

  1. On the Word toolbar, select File>Page Setup.
  2. On the Page Setup menu, select the Margins tab.
  3. In Orientation, select Landscape.
  4. In Pages, use the drop down menu to select Bookfold.
    When you select Bookfold, Word automatically applies the format to the whole document.
  5. Click OK.
    You can print booklets on legal size paper, but you must adjust the page setup and printer setup.

Format Even/Odd Page Layout

Use the Even/Odd Page Layout when you are formatting double-sided pages.

  1. On the Word toolbar, select File>Page Setup.
  2. On the Page Setup menu, select the Layout tab.
  3. In the Section Start, use the drop down menu to select Odd Page.
  4. In Headers and Footers, choose Different Odd and Even.
  5. Use the up and down arrows to the right of Header and Footer, to set the distance from the edge of the page.
  6. In Preview, under Apply to: use the drop down menu to select Whole Document.
  7. Click OK.
