Assignment #2

  1. Send the instructor an e-mail containing the URL for the first half of the assignment. greg@tapr.org.
  2. Post an e-mail to the class list containing the written part of the assignment (part 2). Use the following subject line: Your Name - Assignment 2

Part 1 (15 pts)

    Using HTML, create a website with a simple instructional tutorial incorporating a unified theme (different from the first one). The HTML must contain at least the following items:
      1. An "index.html" page that contains: Your name, Intended primary and secondary audience , Key learning objective(s) for the site.
      2. A minimum of 5 HTML pages (including the "index.html" page above), but no more than 10 pages total. The web pages need to be interlinked.
      3. At least two pages must use frames.
      4. Include a JavaScript on your index.html page
      5. Ordered and unordered lists.
      6. Two forms that talk to the following CGIs (as discussed in class)
      7. Tables, you must use two colors on at least two cells (one color per cell)
      8. Create and use a client side image map
        • E-mail a request for information to you and the instructor (http://saturn.cecs.unt.edu/cgi-bin/gjones/5420email1.cgi)
        • E-mail a survey form to you and the instructor (http://saturn.cecs.unt.edu/cgi-bin/gjones/5420email2.cgi)
        • use checkbox, radio, reset, submit, select (pulldown and scrolling), textarea, and hidden field types
      9. It must display acceptably on Netscape 4.x and Internet Explorer 5.0 and later.

    Expected Code: Student must use one or more of the above items in the submitted code. The forms must be able to call the supplied CGI and send the requested e-mail to the instructor.

Part 2 (5 pts)

  • Locate and read, from any professional journal, two articles relevant to the course that cover copyright issues and the Web. Write a two paragraph review for each article. The 1st paragraph should describe the contents of the article. The 2nd paragraph should be your reaction to the article. Do not forget to include the reference cite. Use APA format.

  • Reply to at least two postings in a meaningful manner. Be sure to include your name in the subject line like: Re: There Name - Assignment #2 - Your Name
