Description:
Course to aid educators and training professionals in
developing robust techniques for locating and utilizing Internet resources
in their day-to-day activities. Selected exercises from representative
categories of tools such as: Telnet, ftp, gopher, WWW, Archie, Veronica,
WAIS.

There will be one quiz, plus submission of a term
paper consolidating findings from the net on a user-selected topic.
An Web site show & tell of findings is required as well.
Each student is also required to get their own personal
UNT - Jove account. They are free to UNT students and you will have your
own e-mail address and space to create a personal home page. Online documentation
is available on how to create
a home page of your own on Jove. To set up an account go to Academic
Computing Services in the Information Sciences Building (ISB), Room 119.

web page first. You can apply
electronically for a Jove account, but your browser must support
Telnet, and you will need to pick up your user ID and password in the ISB
room 119, up to three working days later.
Remote dial-up service into Jove is available. Premium
service is recommended. Once you have your Jove user ID and password, you
may go to the UNT Bookstore, and request Premium
Remote Dial-up Service. There are local Denton lines, and Ft. Worth
and Dallas metro lines available.

Cheating and disciplinary action is defined by the UNT Policy Manual
Code of Student Conduct and Discipline. Cheating is an act of academic
dishonesty. It is defined and is to be handled as follows: "Plagiarism
and cheating refer to the use of unauthorized books, notes, or otherwise
securing help in a test; copying tests, assignments, reports, or term papers;
representing the work of another as one's own; collaborating, without authority,
with another student during an examination or in preparing academic work;
or otherwise practicing scholastic dishonesty."
